With Preacher Skae dead it's up to Brother Lanmark to keep things running in Stern Hope. The man is a former Scintillan PDF officer that journeyed to Iochantos because he had heard of Skae's great project in the wilderness. He's a very talented organizer - in reality it is he who has led the Stern Hope settlement and overseen the logistics of the Cathedral's construction. The man's not an Adept, but he has a way with both people and numbers. Unfortunately he lacks the charisma and eloquence needed to become a Preacher - or a Bishop.

Fortunately there is another. Seth. Formerly of the Adeptus Administratum he is a self-made preacher. When he speaks people not only listen, the believe. If he can be convinced to accept the post...if the Ministorium can be persuaded...then Stern Hope will become a focal point for the conversion of the people of Iochantos.

Only time will tell.

It is arranged for an astropath to be sent up from Port Suffering. The disturbances in the warp that Navigator Erasums warned was brewing has abated, but the aftercurrents is making communications hellishly difficult. it's made worse by having access to only one second-rate astropath and not a competent choir (on the other hand you've had you fill of 'choirs' for a while). He is able, after several days of effort, to send a message to Mistress Xerza. It is not encrypted as such, but rather using a series of references that will make little sense to anyone by Xerza and Haxtes. There is a reply - keep the situation under control and await my arrival.

It takes three weeks under normal conditions to travel from Scintilla to Iochantos. Three weeks of trying to keep the locals pulling in the same direction. To keep 'Saint Drusus' from interacting with the locals - which proves and impossible task. They know he's here and the people won't be turned away. Indeed, by the time Xerza arrives there are pilgrims coming in from other areas...whatever happens the Inquisition can't simply 'disappear' him. The Ministorium has seniority when it comes to saints and the holy...

Another loose end is Karen. She passed out during Aristarchus' little transformation. She recovered - and then disappeared. She has not been seen since.
