Hundreds of commanders, leaders and champions have gathered upon Bokiba-Bapas' sole surviving sky-city. It's neutral ground - more or less. There will be numerous pissing contests - that's a given. There will be at least one fight to the death. Perhaps an overall leader will emerge, perhaps not.

Castor is here to observe. Perhaps opportunities or information will present itself?

Well, there are some Iron Warriors that feel that not enough auxiliaries were expended breaking the Imperial lines. And a couple of World Eaters that think the reavings failed because Khorne didn't favor them (too little blood shed they claim). There is even this stark mad Death Guard sergeant that goes around creaming about how the Eldar are behind it all.

...I digress. Yes, a lack a faith may well be one of the reasons the reavings failed. Definitely not the only one though. But faith will certainly been needed for the third Reaving of Finial to succeed.

The whispers of the powers has step by step brought Castor to the gathering grounds of the reaving, it is written in stars and willed by the gods that that the word is brought this time, lack of faith made the other reavings fail, faith in the true powers is needed for victory so says the living Primarch Lorgar.

While the main thrust of the Black Crusade is directed towards the heart of the Imperium - the Segmentum Solar - there are many secondary campaigns. One such campaign - or Reaving as they are known - is the Reaving of Finial Sector.

Finial is a huge Imperial sector located spinward and trailing (i.e. to the galactic northwest) of the Eye of Terror. It doesn't quite border the Eye itself - that horror belongs to Imperial Protectorates guarding the Eye - but it's close enough to have felt the touch of Chaos over the millennia.

It's also close enough that it needs to fall to secure the flank of the Black Crusade. But contrary to expectations all efforts to secure the sector have met with bloody abysmal failure:

The initial assault was a total disaster - the Imperials suckered the Reaving deep into Imperial territory before launching a masterfully coordinated counter-assault. The timing was exquisite; the Reaving had yet to cause much damage, but was too widely deployed to easily withdraw.

The second Reaving fared no better. This time the Imperials fought it tooth and nail over every bit of space and ground. But though their strategy was different their execution was still flawless. The second Reaving of Finial is still out there, grinding itself to shreds, but Warmaster Abaddon has long since lost all faith in it.

He has therefore called for a third Reaving. Much larger than both the two previous reavings - combined. But he cannot afford to divert from the main drive on Terra, so this Reaving will be more like a coalition of the willing - all those seeking glory and truth are more than welcome to join.<br />

Lord Abaddon is a know for smiling a lot - little does he know that it was the plan all along to give up a few of the brothers in sacrifice to our gods, to the warp and to the eternal glory of our living Primarch. And at the same time light a false hope of victory in the minds of the servants of the dead god that will only make their souls taste so much the sweeter when they fall. So there :)
