Raiding Calixis in force had definitely had some benefits, but it has also caused some attrition. If pursuing the raiding option he advocated sending the majority of raiders to Finial - to keep up raider moral, bring in maximum gains AND avoid drawing attention from Battlefleet Calixis. Then add a sprinkling of heavier raids on Calixis to keep them off-balance. The Spinward approach is the more martially inclined option.
