Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 5.5
Pretty much one, big, epic fight...
E'tan E, Leet and Janna + Heavy and a dozen clones + Nee d'o and twenty Glemnarkians (armed with advanced Republic weapons released by Dunga the hutt) vs. Colonel Boroosh and his elite Trandoshan henchmen (armed with blaster rifles and light-saber resistant melee weapons).
All but two of the Trandoshans were killed; the final two surrendered. E Leet managed to incapacitate and capture Boroosh after a lengthy one-on-one fight. Boroosh has armour in the same lightsaber-reistant material that Darth Obsirius is using. Commander Dreck was released from captivity.
The Trade Federation appeared. Mehket, Neimoidian envoy of the Federation was presented with evidence that the Republic didn't supply Glemnark with weapons. That it was the work of a rogue clone, working for the Separatists. Providing Nee d'O and friends with stolen/captured weapons (just like the ones on Rigelia). The Federation left the scene, vowing to take up the matter in the Senate.
The good:
- You've saved the station from begin taken over by the Trade Federation
- You've foiled the Separatist plot; preventing the Trade Federation from supplying Aunbrun with (LOTS!) of weapons.
- Which in turn means you've prevented a second Aunbrun invasion of Glemnark!
- You have a very fast ship (Cragus' YT-1210)
- You have Lo'kahrn and Vilus Vulpa helping out.
- You have your own squad of Clones
The bad:
- Obsirius has absconded with the Light of Reason and everyone aboard. Perhaps he planned it all along, perhaps he changed his plans when you screwed up his plot.
- Cragus is on the corvette; could have been woken up.
- Onna Dio is on the corvette; could be dead, captured, or turned to the Dark Side!
- The Oracle is on the corvette
- The Force-sensitive children is on the corvette!
- Mayzin Turin (Preseident's daughter) is on the corvette
- E'tan's friend, Dr. Zoliis is on the corvette.
- Plus lots of others that you've picked up along the way
The to do:
- Go to Hexan (where Obsirius is headed)
- Scout out the place
- Come up with a plan
- Defeat Cragus and Obsirius
- Free everyone
- Become heroes!
Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 5
The Light of Reason is ready to go, but Master Dio has decided to stick around to foil what must be a Separatist/Sith plot. The Republic can't afford to let the Dark Side take control of the space station and/or a couple of planets.
You got into a pretty epic fight with Darth Obsirius. E'tan managed to destroy his lightsaber, but other than that the fight was pretty one-sided. You did, however, manage to preventhim from killing Loh'karn, which was nice since you could finally get the Twi'lek to talk.
You got some more information about the plot too, most of it from Loh'karn, your Twi'lek friend, but also from looking around the station, finding Cragus' hidden ship, speaking to the Republic Station Commander etc.
- there are Trandoshan mercs on the station, working as security
- the Trandoshans are secretly in the employ of the Sith
- the Trandosshans are waiting for the right moment to strike (which is probably very soon now)
- the planet Aunbrun is making ready to re-invade Glemnark
- the Glemarkians have been stockpiling weapons to defend themselves
- the Glemarkians have been buying weapons from the 'Republic', but those weaposn must be stolen or something, because it is the Separatist who are supplying them
- when the Aunbrunite invasion fails, they will have to call upon Separatist aid to end the 'outrage' of the Republic secretly having broken its own embargo
- you've not yet discovered what kind of excuse the Aunbrunites will use to justify their invasion; maybe it has something to do with the Prince?
- as a little side note; you found Cragus' light freighter, with one of his clones on board (it was taken to the corvette)
You need to act NOW. Seize control of the stations command module and thereby the defence systems. That won't be easy, not with the Trandoshans and the Sith. You've the aid of the stations Glemnarkians; they have been armed with weapons released by Dunga (who essentially stole them from the late Cragus - who has already sold them to Glemnark).
Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 4
Long overdue update: Last session ended with a lengthy trek through the bowels of Delta Station, several droid fights - the destruction of rogue Clone Trooper named 'Cragus'. After an epic brawl E'tan finally managed to land a blaster shot (peculiar tactic for a Jedi) on Cragus' jet-pack, even as he was blasting away.
Jedi 1 - 0 Cragus!
There is definitely a Separatist plot unfolding aboard the space station. You're just not sure exactly what is up. There is also some disagreement about whether you should take your ship and run for Hexan or stay and help out the people on the station. Oona has said 'stay and fight'.
What you've managed to piece together thus far:
- The Separatists are using Starport Delta as a staging point to smuggle weapons and other items to Aunbrun and Glemnark - in contravention of the Republic embargo. There is also reason to suspect they have more droids hidden away around the station. Their master plan has not been revealed yet, but they are surely up to no good.
- Dunga the Hutt is part of a greater Hutt crime syndicate. He's been quite helpful and has promised aid against the Separatists. Which is nice of him, but is it good to help a Hutt become more powerful?
- The Glemnark delegation (led by Ni d'O) is outraged at being tricked; they didn't know Separatists were involved, only that they were buying Republic weapons from a Clone. Weapons they need to defend themselves from Aunbrun aggression.
- The Aunbrun delegation (led by Prince Orelion) didn't seem overly concerned when Janna visited. Perhaps they are willingly in league with the Separatists? Janna thinks that is a possibility.
- The station population of fringers, refugees and other civilians are anxious about the future. You have good connections to this diverse group through your NPC contacts; Zollis, Vilus Vulpa and Lo’kharn.
You must now figure out what to do next; how do you stop the separatists when you don't know what they are planning to do next?
LIGHT OF REASON
Stripped of all non-essential equipment (except the bar) by Vilus Vulpa (part of his payment). But can actually fly and fight again!
While some of the people you've carried have jumoed ship on Starport Delta most have remained on board. So while the Ligth of Reason only has a handful of clones and partof its original Republic crew it's filled with all manner of worker droids and refugees from Arcuuna Station, Omar, younglings from Consovor, and more refugees from Rigelia. Quite the crowd!
TEAM JEDI
- Aslar To'ung, E Leet's master. Was killed by an assassin droid aboard Arcuuna Station.
- Master Oona Dio is mobile again (but not in great shape she probably shouldn't fight Sith or anything like that)
- E'tan. Skilled and eager, but rash and prone to violence. Oona tries to guide him, but he rarely listens.
- E Leet. Continues to unflinchingly follow the path of the Jedi.
- Tito Jax is still lost behind enemy lines (i.e. on planet Rigelia)
- Navik Nix, your Rodian Jedi, is still dead. Rest his spirit.
- Younglings. The ship is still home to about two dozen Force-sensitive children of various ages.
TEAM SITH
- Darth Tempos. Fell to her death in the lava cavern beneath the secret base on Consovor.
- Mystery Sith. Last seen on Rigelia as you fled that planet.
Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 3
The plot thickens...
Jedi Master Oona Dio is no longer in mortal danger thanks to the ministrations of Dr. Zollis, your friendly neighborhood Quarren doctor. She remains incapacitated on board the Light of Reason, floating around in a tank or whatnot.
Analyzation of one of the droids revealed a few interesting items of information:
- the ARE Separatist droids
- it's been around 100 hours since they came aboard/were activated
- they were instructed to shoot indiscriminately at both sides, but to avoid Prince Orelion, the Aunbrun representative.
- fortunately their core programming overrode their mission parameters and they went for the Jedi first.
- you got a hazy image of a Clone Trooper working with the droids.
Lo’kharn the Fixer helpfully pointed out that the box E'tan had stolen (bad Jedi) was in fact a Hutt spice box, keyed only to open at the touch of a Hutt.
- the box was from Jabba the Hutt to Dunga the Hutt, the local hutt rep on the station.
- rather than doing it the easy way E'tan chose the hard and violent way (bad Jedi).
- Dunga revealed that the clone called himself Cragus and was an infamous arms dealer, smuggling advanced weapons to Glemnark.
Ni d’O, the Glemnark representative, was rather upset when he heard the news: That his good friend the arms dealing clone was in league with the Separatists.
Janna had somewhat less success when she spoke to the Prince. He was polite and all, but he didn't seem overly converned. But then again the only thing you have on him is the droids being ordered not to shoot him.
Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 2
Short version:
1. You landed and found the station filled with all manner of fringe elements and war refugees. Almost like Mos Eisley, just abaord a space station.
2. You purchased medicines for the crew. That used up most of your credits.
3. You got repairs for the ships from a Verpine mechanic (by trading away supplies and 'non-essential' ship components).
4. E'tan got a new friend; a Quarren doctor who (surprisingly) managed to actually fix Oona Dio from dying to merely incapacitated.
5. E'tan stole something from a Hutt crime syndicate (the one belonging to Jabba). Just because he felt like it. Interesting that the Hutts are involved. You're probably going to regret that.
6. You also learned that the station is supposed to be watching the arms embargo of two warlike worlds nearby; Aunbrun and Glemnark. Both sides have their people on the station and they are not very good friends.
7. E'tan arranged for a meeting in Central Park where they would kiss and make up. That didn't work out so well when you were attacked by assassin droids.
8. The droids turned out to be Separatist Battle Droids in disguise.
I think that's about it.
---
Prince Orelion, Aunbrun representative: This Brunite is aloof and condescending. Never seen without servants and guards.
Ni d’O, Glemnark representative: This Arkian has lots of bravado, but less intelligence. Talks all the time.
Master Oona Dio: In desperate need of competent medical attention.
Doctor Zollis: Very talkative and annoying Quarren surgeon that has sought refuge on Delta to avoid a string of malpractice suites.
Vilus Vulpa: Verpine tech willing to fix the Light of Reason in return for a lot of supplies and ‘spare parts’ (i.e. stripped non-essential components).
Lo’kharn the Fixer: Twi’lek fixer. One of the most well-connected persons on the station.
Cypeen
The planets Aunbrun and Glemnark are both home to a distinct near-human species (characterized by a slightly ochre tint to their skin and slightly angular facial features) called the Cypeen. Both worlds are ancient colonies of the original Cypeen homeworld, a world whose location is now clouded by myth and legend. Stories speak of how in ancient times a great shadow arose from the depths of space, threatening to engulf the Cypeen homeworld. With great effort the Cypeen constructed two ark-ships (they had no hyperdrives back then) and sent them into the void, hoping that at least one would find a safe haven and continue their civilization.
In the event both ships arrived safely at their destinations, finding each a habitable world at the end of their long flights. The two colonies thrived in isolation for many generations, completely unaware of each other (or the larger galaxy for that matter). Until one day the people of Aunbrun were discovered by Republic explorers. Exposed to the galaxy they gained possession of modern technology – starships included. Thus began their search for the homeworld. A world they did not find, for it had long since been consumed by the Erberus Drift, a great gash in the structure of both real space and hyperspace. But they did find Glemnark.
After the joy of rediscovery had passed it quickly became clear that this was not going to end very well. The Brunites felt that the Arkians were backward and ungrateful. And the Arkians felt that the Brunites were haughty and had lost sight of their heritage. The bidding animosity soon escalated into open conflict.
The Brunites took control over Glemnark under the pretext of helping their poorer cousins. The Arkians felt they were being occupied and purchased weapons from smugglers and hired pirate ships to fight as privateers. A long and bloody war between occupiers and insurgents began, costing both worlds dearly. Eventually the Brunites abandoned their occupation and retreated back to their homeworld. The Arkians felt victorious and vindicated, but was left with a broken world and a people that knew only war. The Brunites were humiliated and faced a lengthy period of economic problems and social unrest.
Matters between the two worlds were never truly settled. As a result Aunbrun was denied entry into the Republic. The Republic sent Jedi to try and negotiate, but the negotiations failed. This rejection was another blow to Aunbrun’s pride and prolonged its economic difficulties. It also led Brunites and Arkians to both be distrustful of the Republic in general and the Jedi in particular.
The conflict between the two worlds continues to this day, but for many years the conflict has been ‘cold’:
Aunbrun has recovered somewhat economically, but it still feels the aftereffects of the conflict: A Republic trade embargo on hi-tech components that the Senate fear would end up in weapons. On top of that its military is much too costly for a world of its size. The roll of the years has not wiped away the desire for revenge, but the planet’s leaders are still wary of outright invasion – they haven’t forgotten what happened the last time. They bide their time while making life difficult for Glemnark through diplomacy, espionage and outright piracy.
Glemark is still a rather backwards place with a low level of industrialization and a poor technology base. Part of that is the Arkian culture, which promotes self-sufficiency and isolation. Another part is the machinations of Aunbrun which has made any sort of entry into the larger galaxy very difficult. There is no real trade with Glemnark for example, only a series of black-market operations that delivers some luxury goods and weapons.
Delta Station
Not far from the quarrelsome worlds lies an old Republic battlestation – Delta Station. The station is the sole remaining structure of its kind, part of an old defensive network built to watch the borders of an alien empire (the Hiiso Empire) that no longer exists. Now the station is primarily tasked with overseeing the embargo of Aunbrun and Glemnark. A skeleton crew mans the systems and oversees a squadron of patrol vessels.
The station is also home to a considerable fringe presence. The cavernous landing bays and interior spaces have become the home to smugglers and free traders of every kind. A surprising number of war refugees have also set up camp here. In their wake all manner of peddlers and tinkers have set up shop. And criminals have also joined in of course. As long as they do not rock the boat too much the overworked Republican security staff leaves them to their own devices.
---
Spire cluster: This big forest for spires and disks sits atop the utility core, rising above the command deck.
Main disk: Comprises the main volume of the station. Massive disk, nearly a mile wide and dozens of stories tall.
Command Deck 1: Situated on top of the main disk, well away from the lower decks. This is where the station is run from.
Landing bays: Numerous landing bays big and small lie around the edge of the main disk. A few are retained for official use, but the rest have effectively been given over to fringe element. Ships come and go as they please. Starship mechanics have set up shops, there are bars, gambling halls – whatever a spacer requires when in a port of call.
Commons: The outlying main-disk sections that have been opened up to war refugees. They have been stripped and mothballed for centuries, and now offer only the barest of necessities.
Central Park: Massive public park taking up the central portion of the main station disk. The park is a dozen stories tall, with internal galleries facing it. There is a big utility column rising from the center of the park.
Utility core: Runs from the generator hub at the bottom, up to the main disk and into the spire cluster on top. It contains power feeds, access tubes, shield generators, guns, and all manner of other odd ends. About 2 miles long, everything included.
Generator hub: At the end of the utility core is a big bulbous outgrowth; it houses the main power generators and shielding array.
Taros Fever
Taros Fever is a highly contagious, but ultimately harmless disease that infects starships crew around outlying spaceports in the Rim. Inoculation is possible, but the effect is limited without repeated treatments.
There is no known cure for the disease once it set in, but there are number of treatments that can help alleviate the symptoms. Untreated Taros Fever leaves the subject incapacitated for several days, followed by a longer period (1-2 weeks) of general fatigue, weakness and dizziness.
Taros Fever has been eliminated in more civilized areas through strict quarantine measures and inoculation programs; which is why most major worlds and spaceports will not allow a fevered crew to land.
Episode 5: The Delta Conspiracy, Part 1
We fianlly had time to sit down and play a session again. Go us!
---
Following the retreat from Rigelia the Light of Reason set a course for the sector capital of Hexan. It soon became clear, however, that they would not be able to go there directly. The ship was falling apart, Oona Dio required medical assistance - and an outbreak of Taros Fever was sweeping through the ship. Without medicines they would not be allowed to land on Hexan without a lengthy quarantine. A new destination is needed; the choice is simple: Delta Station, an old Republic starbase that's quickly becoming the no. 1 Hive of Scum and Villany in the Erberus Sector!
Episode 4: Flashpoint Rigelia, Part 4
The shuttle streaks away...and Mayzin Turin has a question; where to? E Leet suggests heading for the Droid Control Ship that must be in orbit somewhere. It must be disabled or all will be lost. Not the most well-considered plan perhaps, but the dice have been cast. Getting to the ship i surprisingly easy; they are, after all, flying the Sith Lord's personal shuttle! But Sith Lords are also entitled to a reception; so the docking bay is filled with battle droids on parade and Neimoidian officers. So much for that plan...
E'tan quickly shaves his head with his saber, gets a red tunic from one of the Congressmen, grabs a grey Neimoidian cloak, then tops off the disguise with a breath mask. Behold - a Dark Lord is among you! It's not a great disguise by any standard, but the droid guards are oblivious to trivial details and the Neimoidians are mostly concerned with bowing and scraping. Putting on a show E'tan orders his 'prisoners' taken to detention, the injured Jedi to the med-bay, and himself escorted to the bridge along with his remaining prisoner.
There is a brief fight with some Guard droids outside the bridge, but they get inside the command deck before the blast doors close. The Neimoidian command crew is captured and the droid army put on standby. Colonel Boroosh and his Trandoshans get a little suspicious then; but a quick bluff keeps them at bay while the Jedi formulate a new plan. Migor Nurgay, 1st Assistant Envoy, offers to help - he's thought through his options and they all end with him at the end of red lightsaber...Darth Obsirius is not the forgiving type.
Soon the droid army has been reactivated...after a 'brief communications failure'. The crew of the Light of Reason is released and escorted back aboard, then the corvette takes off with droid fighters flying cover - Republic prisoners being brought aboard for processing you see. Meanwhile the President are released and board the shuttle again; they will return to Rigelia to continue the fight. The Light of Reason arrives unmolested, E'tan and E Leet get aboard with the Neimoidians, as do the wounded and Mayzin Turin (she'll represent Rigelia before the Republic). Then the ship takes off again, dashing through the line of Techno Union frigates...and into hyperspace, heading for Hexan, the sector capital.
CUTSCENE
Behind them Colonel Boroosh orders his ships to fire on the Droid Command ship - he's convinced that the Neimoidians are up to no good or that the Jedi are aboard or in control. Whatever the case; the ship must be destroyed!
Episode 4: Flashpoint Rigelia, Part 3
It is decided to call a special session of Congress in the Great Hall of the Turin ranch. The situation must be discussed and measures decided upon. The Jedi are allowed to address Congress. There are two camps. The Presidential camp that thinks this is a Separatist conspiracy. Everything that has happened has been engineered by the Confederacy. Their crowning argument are the arrival of the droid army and the bombing of Congress, as witnessed by E'tan. The camp of Vice-President Ulmin Drey calls it a Republic plot. Hiiso uprising, Republic weapons, led by Jedi. 'Coincidental' arrival of the Light of Reason. E'tan being a complete lunatic (which means him 'seeing' the bombing isn't very reassuring). The two camps can't seem to agree on anything.
But eventually Ulmin Drey admits to having been in contact with the Confederacy. Just like the President has been in touch with the Republic. He's gotten assurances that they will help put the rebellion do and restore order. More than the Republic has promised. He's also taken the liberty of inviting the Confederacy envoy to this meeting - after all the Jedi are here to speak for the Republic, so it is only fair the other side gets the chance to present itself.
Shortly thereafter Tito Jax reports droid battalions encircling the ranch. And E Leet spots an approaching shuttle. It lands and disembarks a squad of Super battle droids, five Neimoidian envoys - and a Sith warrior. They head inside to address Congress. Meanwhile, in the dewback stables...E'tan has another mad plan. He rides the dewback out, pretending to loose control, then conveniently falls off in the vicinity of the shuttle. He slips behind the two super battle droids that guard the ramp, then enter the shuttle, taking out two pilot droids, then blasting the supers with the shuttles cannons.
That sort of puts an end to the negotiations inside. The Sith draws his lightsaber and Oona and E Leet move to oppose him. Using his red lightsaber and Force lightning the Sith gains the upper hand. Oona is barely able to smash him through the doors and into the hall, giving E Leet time to evacuate the Congressmen out the back (well, not all of them really, Ulmin's people remain with the Neimoidians). The battle rages on. E'tan and E Leet rejoin Oona who is not fighting with Janna. The fight goes badly. Even a Jedi master and three apprentices can't seem to defeat a single Sith (Tito Jax would have made no difference were he present).
In the end E'tan calls up the shuttle to have it shoot at the ranch. Maybe, just maybe it can distract the Sith. Mayzin responds and fires the shuttle's guns repeatedly. The Jedi flee, but they get no further than the steps before a thrown lightsaber takes Oona in the back. She falls, mortally wounded. E'tan manages to use the Force to heal her, preventing her from dying outright. They stumble for the shuttle, E'tan carrying Oona and E Leet supporting Janna. The rubble shifts and the Sith gets out. E'tan flings a rock at him. The Sith throws it right back - then he starts flinging big rocks at the shuttle. E Leet rushes back, unleashing every bit of Force he has; the Sith is knocked down and buried in rubble for the second time. It won't last long though, so they race back to the shuttle and lift off...leaving Tito Jax behind in the process.
Episode 4: Flashpoint Rigelia, Part 2
The Jedi turn out to be less-than-friendly and another battle breaks out. The strange Jedi do not fight like Jedi at all - they may be Force users, but not very accomplished ones, and while they have lightsabers they lack the lifetime of training true Jedi have. What they do have is anger - a clear sign of the Dark Side. E'tan has the opportunity to shine - no thinking or wisdom required to bash down false Jedi with lightsabers and Force strikes. The enemies are all slain, except one that runs off into the bush.
They reach the ranch and have a chat with Presiden Turin and Master Dio. The Hiiso have reached the capital of Driscol too. The President insists on leading an expedition to see to the safety of Congress. Master Dio does not want to risk the President's life. She suggests a compromise; the President's daughter will go with the expedition. She is well known to the Congressmen and knows Driscol well. E'tan and E Leet will escort her. The President and Oona will remain at the ranch.Tito Jax and Janna are to take a speeder and check up on neighboring ranches, see if the people there need help.
Mayzin Turin and the two Jedi lead a small convoy of bush speeders to Driscol. With them are some tough ranchers that work for the Turins. They are not soldiers, but they are pretty handy with blasters anyway. Night has fallen. The capital in in disarray. Hiiso bands are roaming the streets. Congress may be under siege. A convoy of speeders is to obvious a target. They leave the speeders, along with a few guards, well outside the city center. Then they head for the Presidential Palace - there is a secure tunnel leading from the Congress building to the palace. For use by the President only, but this is an emergency.
Before they can reach the Palace they are ambushed by another group of false Jedi. They are defeated with some effort. They reach the tunnel and use it to gain entrance into Congress. Mayzin knows all the codes and such, so there are no problems. A handful of Congress Guards are doing their best to keep the Hiiso at bay, but they outgunned and outnumbered. The Jedi help beat of a Hiiso assault while the Congressmen (and women) leave through the tunnel. Then they retreat, shutting the tunnel behind them. It will be a while before the Hiiso dare another attack, so now is the time to slip away.
Deciding against walking all these people through the streets it is decided to get the speeders. But there is no reply. So E'tan takes a handful of drivers/guards with him and sets off. He finds the speeders and makes ready to drive. But after driving only part of the distance he gets a hunch, halts the column and climbs on top of a tall building. In time to see three strange lights falling from the sky, directly for the Congress building. There is a big explosion - Congress was just bombed!
The Presidential Palace - and the people inside - survived the bombing, save for a few cuts, bruises and ringing ears. E Leet tries to reach E'tan. Nothing. Communications are being jammed. From somewhere high above. This can only mean invasion. E'tan gets his act together and rushes to look for survivors. He then witnesses a brief battle between Hiiso and Separatist Battle droids. The Confederacy has arrived. Figures. Reaching the palace E'tan holds a rousing speech, then they move out on foot. There is no other choice. Fortunately the speeders are where E'tan left them. The mount up and drive off in small groups to avoid detection and wholesale destruction. Their destination - the Turin Ranch.
Episode 4: Flashpoint Rigelia, Part 1
After an arduous journey the Jedi heroes finally arrive at Rigelia. They may think they have reached as safe haven, but events are soon to prove them wrong as a violent Separatist plot engulfs the planet...
Rigelia is another unaligned world that is hotly debating whether to join either side of the escalating galactic war. There is conflict between two local power groups – the old landowners who favor the Republic, and the Mining Conglomerate that supports the Confederacy. A world-wide referendum will determine the political future of Rigelia. A referendum that the Conglomerate feels it must win – otherwise the Republic anti-slavery law will kick in and free the Hiiso slaves that work the mines. This alone will do very bad things for the Conglomerate’s profit margin, but the emancipated slaves will no doubt add their votes to those of the landowners, effectively securing their political power. It simply cannot be allowed to happen. Acting in secret the Conglomerate has been able to secure some additional support from the Confederation. The Confederation has guaranteed that the Confederacy of Independent Systems will not let Rigelia fall into chaos!
The Jedi are well received by the Rigelians. They are taken to the Congress building. Oona and her Padawan go to speak with the Planetary President and her ministers. The rest of the Jedi are supposed to stay put and not make any fuss. The President, the tough old rancher Tamzin Turin would very much like to help the Jedi, but given the current political situation she cannot be seen to be taking sides. The Light of Reason will be allowed to make some necessary repairs and the President will ensure that medical attention is given to those that need it, but after that the Light must leave.
In the meantime E'tan goes for a stroll. He encounters Vice-President Ulmin Drey (who is also the leader of the Mining Conglomerate, and pro-Separatist). E'tan get's a 'bad feeling' (not so strange perhaps, since Ulmin has a rather bad destiny). A quarrel develops. E'tan is frustrated. A lightsaber is drawn. Guards rush to help. Suddenly E'tan is keeping the Vice-President hostage and demanding a speeder be made ready for him. He intends to take Ulmin to Empogmia (the Mining Conglomerate HQ) and 'prove' that 'something' is very wrong. Poor Master Dio...
Oona sends E Leet after E'tan. A wise choice, since the brash Jedi is more likely to listen to the Cerean than any other sentient (and the Cerean is less likely to want to strangle E'tan than anyone else). The rest of the Jedi go with the President to her ranch - she's still supportive of the Jedi, but feels it is best if they keep a low profile.
E Leet eventually overtakes E'tan and forces him to stop. Before they can speak much the airspeeder that carried E Leet is shot out of the sky. Everybody dive for cover, and not a moment too soon - the landspeeder also go up in flames. Then a wave of heavily armed (as it turns out they are armed with REPUBLIC guns) Hiiso charge the Jedi. E Leet tries to reason with them, but these Hiiso are not docile at all. The Jedi are forced to kill them all. Afterwards they collect Ulmin Drey - totally panicked he's been trying to crawl away...
Mayzin Turin, President Turin's strikingly attractive and willful daughter, turns up in her outback speeder. She went looking for the Jedi against her mother's (and Oona's) wishes. Good thing she came though - saves the Jedi a long walk. Upon nearing the Turin Ranch they hear the sounds of blaster fire. The abandon the speeder and sneak through the bush...
...finding a handful of Jedi waiting for them. How...odd!
Episode 3: The Consovor Incident (updated)
Leaving Omar behind the Light of Reason heads towards Rigelia, which is the closest civilized Republic system from Omar. Still damaged, but now more or less functional, the ship still has a defective primary hyperdrive and the subspace communicator array is also offline. Reaching Rigelia is key if word of the Separatist plans and Sith involvement is to be sent back to the Jedi Order and the Republic Senate.
While underway Padawan Janna Deshler has several Force visions of Oona Dio. The Master is alive, but in captivity. With the Force as her guide Janna is able to point out the world of Consovor as the place where the Master is held. Consovor is a surveyed world, but no records exist of it ever having been settled. Not of any official settlements anyway.
As the Light lands on Consovor E’tan embarks on a little adventure of his own – taking the Oracle with him he departs with one of the utility speeders. He finds the perfect spot to settle down and hide – unfortunately the Separatists have also found this the perfect spot for their hidden base. The speeder is shot to pieces with the Oracle still aboard and E’tan is captured and taken down into the mountain…
Leaving a skeleton force to defend the Light (with orders to flee if things go badly) the remaining Jedi and Clone Troopers follow Janna’s lead and infiltrate the Separatist base. E Leet encounters the Oracle. She got of the speeder before it blew up. She conveniently points out a hidden entrance. E Leet leads a team into the mountain base and manages to free both Master Dio and E’tan – and the missing Force-Sensitive children. Together they make good their escape – only to find that Darth Tempos has counterattacked and driven away the rest of the Republican forces!
Fearing the worst Master Dio and her team race back to the Light. Fortunately the ship is safe – either the Sith does not know its location or she doesn’t have the resources to mount an attack. Taking stock of the situation it becomes clear that things are grim – another all-out attack on the base is out of the question. With only a platoon of Troopers there is no way such an attack can succeed. And more importantly – word must be brought back to the Republic, and the children and the Orcale must be taken to Coruscant.
Dio can sense that her Padawan is alive and in pain; realizing full well that it is likely a trap she nevertheless decides to try and save her. Acting on sage advice from E’tan Master Dio dispatches the ship to go to Rigelian – while she and her two apprentices, E’tan and E Leet, remain behind. Perhaps sending the ship away will even distract Darth Tempos from their true intent…or maybe not.
Heading back towards the Separatist base they find signs of battle. Several dead clones – and the dead body of Navik Nix. From now on E’tan will carry his lightsaber (his own now being in the possession of Darth Tempos). They also find Tito Jax, badly injured but alive. After resting the night and receiving such Force healing as can be mustered they small group continues the next day.
After ascending the mountain Tito reveals himself to draw the defenders out. The rest of the Jedi quickly deal with the gun turrets and the droids sent up to face them. Then they quickly take the turbolift down to the main hall and stage a surprise assault on disorganized droid forces. Now they must find Darth Tempos and free Janna!
The Jedi now (more or less involuntary) pursue a different path – the wounded Jax guards the exit, E’tan goes looking for the droid control center, E Leet searches for Janna, while Oona heads towards a disturbance in the force – Darth Tempos. With the Sith out of the equation Oona figures her apprentices will be capable of both dealing with droids and freeing Janna.
E Leet’s rescue goes rather poorly; he isn’t able to locate Janna. E’tan has no luck either, getting entangled in a mass of droids, including one very big and nasty spider droid. But he is determined if nothing else, eventually forcing his way into the control center. Unfortunately disabling the droids isn’t quite that easy and E’tan is forced to go look for another solution to the problem. He descends by turbolift down to the magma lake that provides the base with power, then proceeds to sabotage the shielding protecting the power generating equipment.
Oona finally manages to confront Darth Tempos; in cavern with a view to the lave lake far below. She is given a choice – see her apprentice fall to a fiery death, or give herself up. Oona need not make up her mind; her other apprentices – E leet, E’tan and Jax – snatch Janna away. Next is an epic clash of sabers. The apprentices are way out of their league, but working with their master they finally overwhelm Tempos – SHE is the one that eventually fall into the fiery lake below.
Getting out quickly now has top priority. E’tan’s sabotage has overloaded the base generators and it’s about ready to blow. They get out in the nick of time – the Light of Reason is waiting for them and they blast away just as the hidden base goes up in flames behind them. With their cargo of force-sensitive children and an Oracle they continue towards Rigelia.
Episode 2: Something Rotten in Omar
After escaping the Separatist forces at Arcuuna the Light of Reason heads along a little-explored hyperspace route to the fringe world of Omar. Since the navicomputer is inoperable it is up to Master Oona Dio’s Force sense to guide the ship safely to its destination. The damaged databanks aboard hold very little information, but E’tan is able to recall a few details – that it is an out-of-the-way place that’s not aligned with either the Republic or the Separatists, and that the locals follow a religion that forbids droids and other advanced technology. Still the place does have a spaceport, however meager, so the Light must land and seek assistance.
They are greeted by High Hierophant Aldermaan and the Church Elders. They are not wanted here – Omar is a neutral world. But Master Dio turns out to be quite persuasive. The Light will be allowed to stay for emergency repairs. They will have supplies brought and medical aid will be given to the wounded. But they must stay aboard the ship and not attempt to leave or interact with anyone. Meanwhile another ship, a largish transport named the Sixth Star, lands and starts disembarking its cargo – refugees from the war who have come to Omar to start new lives. The Durois crew seems to be well known to the locals and not subject to the same restrictions as the Light of Reason.
Meanwhile E’tan has snuck away from the ship. Catching a cab, driven by one Dirk Strider, he heads to the city – Orlist, the capital of Omar. The place turns out to be a sad affair, a very affluent and well-kept city center, great estates in the old sea-cliffs and surrounding hills, and massive slums as far as the eye can see. He arranges for accommodations and takes trip to see the Temple Hill, the seat of religious power. Seeing the great robed statues that line the way to the Great Cathedral he gets this nagging feeling that he should know who they are (they are the likenesses of the Jedi Founding Fathers).
That very night Master Dio has a Force vision alerting her to a great evil. She decides to send her apprentices undercover into the city. All save Jax who will remain with her aboard the Light. E’tan and E Leet go with Dirk Strider to see a local religious leader, while Janna and Navik decides to look into the priesthood, the church and the history of Omar’s founding.
Dirk takes the two Jedi to see Josh'ah Dest, a local Durosi religious leader. He fills in a lot of gaps – telling them that all is not well on Omar. That the current regime is quite oppressive and not very pious. That Omar was settled by war-weary refugees led by equally war-weary Jedi, leading to the world’s peculiar pacifist religion. While they are speaking to him Omarite Templars move in to arrest Josh’ah – his vocal opposition to the regime will no longer be tolerated, and definitely no talking to outsiders. The Jedi flee while Josh’ah is arrested. But his captivity is short-lived as E’tan and E Leet join with Dirk to liberate him before he can reach Temple Hill.
Returning to the hotel they find a handful of Durosi mercenaries waiting for them in the main hall. Wasting no time the Jedi draw sabers and go on the offensive. Soon the villains all lie dead. This prompts the Jedi to go looking for Hedja Mooh and his cronies. They find his Seacliff apartment and break in there. Another fight ensures, in which the Jedi capture Mooh’s lieutenant Rara Nimpo. Unfortunately she doesn’t know when to quit and is killed before she can reveal anything. A starfighter attack on the apartment puts an end to that line of investigation.
Meanwhile Janna and Navik have snuck onto Temple Hill and recorded a most revealing meeting between Hedja Mooh and High Hierophant Aldermaan. The High Hierophant is demanding that something be done with the Oracle. Her visions are turning increasingly hostile to Aldermaan’s rule and he wants her replaced with someone more docile. Only he cannot act openly against her, or he would lose all legitimacy. So Mooh must go there and seize her. Janna sends word to Master Dio, who takes an airspeeder and heads downtown to pick up her Jedi. Then they set course of the mountain monastery of the Oracle.
The airspeeder is intercepted halfway by two Durosi starfighters dispatched from the Sixth Star. After some near-death acrobatics by E’tan he manages to seize control of one fighter and shoot the other one down. The rest of the trip is rather less eventful, until they spot the Sixth Star parked on the platform outside the Monastery. Shrouded by the Force they lands safely and quickly take out the guards Mooh has left outside. Quickly they make their way inside and start looking for the Oracle.
Inside the situation is chaotic. Encouraged by the words of the Oracle the monks have put up a spirited resistance against Hedja Mooh’s crew. And the monastery itself is a warren of old passages and hallways. The Jedi and their troopers make their way to the Oracle and secure her. Then the situation changes for the worse – contact is lost with the Clone sentries outside, and Oona can feel the Dark Side approaching. Ordering her apprentices to carry the oracle to safety Master Dio confronts the Sith. E’tan, headstrong as ever, does not listen and joins the fight. But he is not yet a Padawan, much less a true Jedi, and his feeble skills are no match of the Sith. Finally E’tan heeds his master, hobbling after the others, injured, but alive.
While Master Dio keeps the Sith occupied E Leet and E’tan escort the Oracle out of the temple. And about time – in the skies above Separatist Vulture droids are getting ready for a bombing run. E Leet jumps into the cockpit of the captured Durosi starfighter and takes off to confront the enemy while the injured E’tan leads the Oracle and the remaining clones board the air speeder. E Leet buys enough time for the airspeeder to get away, but he cannot prevent the Separatists from blowing up both the temple and the Sixth Star – presumably with both the Sith and Master Dio still inside! Later turns out the Sith defeated Master Dio, then spirited her away by way of another exit before the bombs fell.
Due to Separatist air supremacy the Jedi are forced to dump their vehicles and hide. They hide in the bush while the Separatist land their droid legions and seize control over Orlist. Making their way down-river they finally manage to contact the Light of Reason. It has not been destroyed at all. It fled the spaceport as soon as the Separatist ship appeared, and then hid beneath the surface of the ocean.
A period of healing and waiting follows, but eventually the Separatist warships move on. But they have badly miscalculated the fighting spirit of the Omarites. Learning that the Oracle is safe and that Aldermaan is a villain they rise in rebellion and defeat both the droid garrison and the Templar forces. Josh'ah Dest becomes the new High Hierophant and Dirk Strider leader of the Omarite Militia. The Omarites ask that the oracle accompany the Jedi to Coruscant, where she can be tested and taught – and petition for Omar to join the Republic.
