Lord Militant Haxtes Guilliman

by DM B

Castor's rag-tag choir of torturers, intelligence analysts, sorcerers and daemonic servants have finally come up with something of interest: Your enemy has a name - Lord Militant Haxtes Guilliman. It would seem that this person is the overall commander of the enemy's efforts in the Calixis sector. You don't have a lot of verified details yet; if you combine all the drivel your sources have come up with so far he's quite the colorful character: A Space Marine that's been been given high command. Some claim he's a Librarian, others insist he's a Chapter Master. Those of your advisers that agree he's Astartes name the Green Knights as his Chapter. But there are a couple who decry this information, naming him instead an Imperial officer - or ever an Assassinorum operative working in the guise of an officer. It will be fun to see how this turns out.

Later. Castor is lost in contemplation. When he returns to the galaxy of the living he finds more reports on his table. Now there are claims that Haxtes is none other than Lord Inquisitor Melbinious - Grand Master of the Ordo Calixis. This is getting better and better. Ahh, and the identity of the leader of the thrice-accursed Haegum has also been 'verified' - none other than this Haxtes person...well, he certainly is a busy little vermin isn't he!

We have a name and names have power, power that can be used. It will be whispered into the warp, Castor is sure that the name is known there. But it is fitting and in tribute to a battle long ago that the Bearers of the true word face a Guilliman in contest over the fate of a sector. There is something fitting and cyclic over it. It has symbolic value and like Names, symbols have great power.

Or the devil has many names, next they will say he is a Costudes come from holy Terra to aid them in the long and dark night. They will learn that the only aid they will ever need can be found in the true word of Holy Lorgnar. Melbinious and Haxtes will have there fortunes told in the fresh entrails of the Innocent this night, the names will be made know to the warp, and they/he will have a more ....... Interesting life after this. Yes, this infidel, cant hide in the shadows for the shadows, like the darkness belong to the true believers. It will indeed be fun.

The first attempt at soliciting aid from the warp fails in a rather spectacular manner: When the servants of the Apostle finally grow weary of waiting and breach the divination chamber they find no trace of the aides or the sacrifices. Only a smattering a black feathers strewn across the floor. There is only one survivor, Emona, Master Lumin's apprentice. It was she who led the ritual. She is alive and relatively unharmed, save for her face: It has been savagely hacked at by cruel beaks; her eyes are gone, as is much of her facial flesh, including her wars, lips and tongue. The gods work in mysterious ways.

As a side note: Lumin seems rather pleased; by using a proxy he's avoided the girl's fate - and he seems to think this experience will only make her a stronger sorcerer in the end.

And Rogue Trader. Don't forget that. With a Charter handed to him by the Emperor himself.

Truly the gods are wise and god, they temper the apprentice, she will be a lot more careful next time. The hosts finest fleshsmiths will grant a new tongue, so she can tell what pacts we face. A lesson well learned for all. She is in favor with powers in the warp to receive that lesson and live. Castor will keep a eye on her.' Lumin is wise to use a proxy but Castor ask him in a friendly and off hand manner if by chance he had lead the ritual that he was tasked to do, the outcome would have been different ??

Prophet oh no just a mere dabbler, a happy amateur that got lucky. So he protects him self with warp craft, the irony is not lost on Castor. They call us warp fiends and witches and what do we find ??- pacts - well as long as the gods are honored it matters not , this enemy can even be seen as a sort of cousin. Truly the gods must laugh... and some say that they are cruel and filled with malice only .... how wrong they are the infidels, The true gods are fun and they go out of there way to keep our simple life's as entertain(For the gods that is) as they can. Castor is so happy with this new illumination that he holds of feeding Lumins entrails to Lumin... and gives him a second chance in the spirit of the laughing gods.
