Ignorance is Bliss - My name is...and I'm a...

Location: Inquisition Deathwatch Strike Cruiser Ignorance is Bliss, en-route to Phagir

Situation: Presentation of the acolytes

Body: Silence descends and the acolytes seem very preoccupied with the exquisite dishes that are brought in. Its too much to take in one sitting, at least until someone breaks the ice.

The icebreaker takes the form of one VERY big blonde woman. She's actually taller than the Astartes warrior you saw wandering about earlier, easily six and a half foot tall. Maybe seven. And with muscles to match.

"I'm Jarra. I'm from Dusk. It's a hell-hole. Literally. Right close to Malfi. Anyway, I'm an ab-human, classified as ogryn, if that tells you anything. If not it means I can break your little bodies without breaking a sweat. Oh, I almost forgot. I'm also a heretic - a deserter from the Guard to be precise. And according to Mistress Xerza I'm also some sort of witch. But the Emperor apparently loves my pretty ass nonetheless."

With that she sits down and resumes eating. The old gentleman applauds, but the rest sit there blank-faced. Then the old geezer gets up to speak for himself:

"I've already been introduced, but to repeat - my name is Vern. Short for...well, just short for something very long and tedious. I'm from Archaos. A most civilized and learned world in a dark and ignorant galaxy. I'm a savant, a learned man, in a civilization that puts ignorance above knowledge.

I'm probably older than all of you put together, Lady Xerza included, but most of that time I wasted away in years of unbelief. But no more. My soul was almost lost, for I had to not only stand on the edge of the abyss to realize my folly, I had to fall into it and be pulled out - by the Holy Inquisition no less. So I'm no longer an apostate and I'm no witch like many of you, but the experience that woke up my soul also...scarred it. I am no longer quite wholesome, not in body, not in mind, not in spirit.

...but as Jarra so eloquently said - apparently the Emperor has some use for me yet."

Maximilian stands up and bows to Lady Xeza when Vern sits. "I'm Maximilian Elazar Dante, conditioned and commissioned Adeptus Arbites of the world Malfi." (Small pause) He scorns at their hostess. "Until recently an Adeptus Arbites." Breaks his stare and face front. "I am guilty of 'Original sin most heinous', retrieved from punishment by Lady Xerza to serve the Holy Ordos." Turn his head and scorns at Jarra. "And I envy you our Emperors love." Maximilian breaks into a laugh. "I apologize and beg your forgiveness. I was waken from stasis no more than an hour before this meeting. I'm confused... I even don't know what day it is." He turns at Jarra again this time smiling and bowing. "I am sorry for my scorn Mistress, it was impolite and I hope I haven't caused permanent grievance between us." Maximilian bows again at their hostess and sits down. He refills his cup and plays 'Spot the heretic' smiling.

The lithe woman next to Xerza, the one in the red bodysuit and over-robe, gets up to address you: "I am Odessa, and this here" - indicating her companion - "is Ignace. We are both from the feudal world of Fervious, but for the last few years we have traveled the Calixis Sector together. That is, until Inquisitor Xerza recruited us. We are both trained warriors, each in our own way. We are also psykers, and we are undergoing training and conditioning under the watchful eye of the Mistress."

The pretty petite girl with the strange eyes speaks next, but she doesn't get up to address the assembly. She appears quite shy and keeps her voice down: "My name is Venus. After the planet Venus. The one in the Sol system. I am a trained Tech-priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Worthy of note are my forty years as an apprentice under the renowned Magos Kemester, perhaps you have heard of him? No? He is something of a legend on Merov, where he has guided the Merovech Combine to greatness. I was his prodigy...that is, until Lady Xerza recruited me into her service. And I'm a telepath, but I can't actually read minds so I don't see how that is relevant."

Xerza looks at the last person, Silon, who is by now at least half-drunk. "What? What is there to say? I'm Silon, formerly Flight Captain Silon of Battlefleet Calixis. And here I am, surrounded by witches and mutants. What a career move! Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Seems I only have half a soul and that's the reason why I'm such a jerk. And seeing as you're all warp-touched that means you'll not only dislike me but actively hate my guts. Good to know right!?" With that he shuts his ugly mouth by downing another amasec.

Xerza speaks: "My turn. I have too many dark secrets to even begin telling them. So let me just start by clearing up one little thing; I've led you to believe I'm an Inquisitor. Well, I'm not. I am Interrogator Senioris Xerza of the Ordo Hereticus, but your real master is Inquisition Tancred. Whom you will never meet in person; but who has been watching you for quite some time. I am his proxy in all things, but I'm no Inquisitor." She leans back and smiles. You glasses rise into the air, making a toast. "And as you've all gathered by now I'm definitely a witch. A telepath and telekine. It's up to me to harden you minds and hone whatever psychic talents you might have."
