Rejoice for You are True, part 2.5 - Another development

by DM B

Timestamp: 5.319.997.M41

Location: Aquila Superior Spire, Upper Levels, Southern Quadrant, Metropolitan Area, Hive Sibellus, Scintilla, Golgenna Reach

Situation: Urgent call from Vorlin Orday received

Body: You've had another call from Orday. This one being more urgent. You must meet sooner than expected. Come to the Hustle as soon as you are able. He will be there until midnight. After that he'll leave the area and get rid of the slate. Reason; he's sure that he's being tracked by hired assassins.

Julia is ready to go - even though her presence is hardly required this time. Not really. You're starting to suspect that she doesn't take this seriously enough - its more of an exiting pastime to her.

At any rate you have to go quickly; taking a hopper would be the quickest way. You could fly it directly from the spire and just head out to sea, turn about and enter the Hustle by air, coming in under the shield-roof. Pretty high-rpofile through.

Maxi must also decide who to bring with him - if any. If he's going at all.

Scintillan Departmento Magistratum Rapid Response Unit hopper, here seen on patrol outside the perimiter of Hive Tarsus, looking for illegal courier activity.

A quick head count by Maxi states that Vern and Venus are buzy doing their stuff. And Haxtes is infiltrating and undoubtedly indulging himself by doing his own stuff. Thats means Maxi is pretty much the leftovers of the team. Lady Julia is welcome to tag along as long as she bring a house guard detail of 3-4 persons. For show Maxi wants House Strophes to have their sigil on this call, but Maxi asks Lord Laurent for House Strophes permission. If not, Lady Julia is not welcome but her detail without house markings is. Maxi calls the Adeptus Arbites to do a 'urgent right now visit' to the nearest Green Coats office of the meeting zone and muster a Green Coat immediate terrorist response force at that location to stay on alert and wait for the distress call. He sermon the call by reciting: "As keepers of the holy bound between worlds and holy Terra you are summoned to protect against treats against HIS domain. So sayest =][=. (STAMP) Maxi takes your suggested route. So it's kind of low profile. ;) (Maxi in his love/hate relationship with everyone enjoys the companionship of Lady Julia, and he wants witness on this call.) (If a small man stands in the street and no ones watch him, has he ever been there?)

OOC: It's hard not to like Maxi; he's a brute AND a glory hound :-) But he's right, what's the point in risking your neck if no one is there to admire it? IC: Arrangements are made. The Arbites make the necessary arrangements with the Magistratum. Special Action Teams backed by Rapid Response Units flying sleek hoppers. Then Maxi takes to the air (does he drive himself or leave it to one of the guardsmen?) with Julia and her small guard detail.

Maxi don't pilot the vessel. If (when) the situation gets hot he needs a designated pilot (guardsman) to do a quick dust off. The pilot will also double as vox-op staying in contact with the SAT / RRU. The signal for a response call will be a direct order from Maxi by voice or vox or small arms fire directly at the windshield in front of the pilot. (Most likely fired by Maxi if other communications fails.) Of sidearms Maxi brings only "Sweetness" and a couple of smoke grenades to give cover and makes the SAT's spot us easier. (I guess the guardsman are armed with heavier sidearms, shotgun/rifle/etc) Maxi hopes for a quick inn'n'out meet, but then again when was the last time he got lucky. He instructs Julia and one guard to have their eyes on Vorlin and Julia will do the talking. Maxi and the other two will have soft eyes on the area around them. (The meet will play as an House Strophes operation.)

The hopper sweeps in from the seaside, passing underneath the watchful eyes of gun-servitors manning the hive defenses along the seaside approaches to Sibellus. You pass over the towering cranes that serve the hundreds of bulk carriers that carry commodities and resources to the hive. Even at this time of night the nights shifts are working a full capacity. Beyond the quay area lies the Hustle - several square kilometers of markets of every kind. Spotting the 100 feet tall statue of a Guardsman standing guard you know you've reached the spot. The hopper sets down in a crowded street and lets out Maxi, Julia and her two guards (armored and armed with automatic shotguns). (if it helps it looks a bit like the street scenes from Blade Runner - only more crowded and cramped, and there is no rain, for high above you is a armoured 'roof' created by the Hive's shield wall) You make your way to the designate meeting place - the Guardsman statue, despite it standard gear (lasgun etc), was equipped with a 50 feet tall shield...once it probably had some magnificent heraldry on it, but long ago it fell to the ground and now there are several stalls and a bar huddled underneath it. Orday i standing at the bar, but he is less interested in his drink and rather more alert to his surroundings...so he spots your approach. You can see that he's carrying a reinforced case in addition to his normal gear. "So there you are. Five more minutes and I would have left and never come back." As soon as those words are uttered events accelerate - as if on cue a swarm of buzz rippers come falling down from the darkened 'sky' above you. Their fat metal insect bodies have been made with serrated monobond edges, capable of slicing through armour with ease. Tiny repulsors keep them afloat while their tiny crystal wings provide propulsion...so that they can seek out their target and bore into his flesh. Orday, to his credit, reacts the fastest - he's up and running before the rest of you have figure out what the sound is. He has his gun in hand, firing up and back even as he pushes into the confused crowd. Explosive bolt rounds hit the swarm and blows several rippers apart, but there are many more. Ordays case sits forgotten next to the bar.

(OOC: To play an instant like this I find difficult since gamers have different concepts of time and image of the scene. I'll therefor try and communicate Maxi's intent and batch of actions so you can unfold the timing and events.) Maxi's Arbites training dictates his actions. 1.) Secure perimeters. 2.) Secure target. 3.) File report. 1.) Maxi orders the guards to open fire at the Swarm. And orders Lady Julia to get back into the hopper and call for a SAT drop in. (If possible Maxi vox the order to the pilot himself or fires a shot of sweetness at the hopper as a signal.) 2.) Orday was not the target the exchange is. So Maxi supported by the guardsmen suppressive fire sprints to the case to pick it up. 3.) If he reach the case, Maxi sprints back to the hopper with the guards still giving support fire. And orders the hopper to take of after any able guards are in. (He waits for no lying bodies.) 3.) Else... (OOC: I'm not familiar with "swarm of buzz rippers" so I have imagined them as a swarm of metallic rat sized hornets.)
06/04/10 @ 11:37
Comment from:
OOC: Not far off; but those are small rats...OK? Voxing the pilot is unproblematic, he responds immediately - you can hear him feeding power to the engines over the link. The SAT also responds; moving in the secure the area. The downside here is the cramped conditions and masses of people. Very hard to get control over the situation. Shotgun fire turns out to be quite effective; dozens of ripper drones are blown apart as the two guards empty a drum mag into the swarm. They quickly regret their choice though, as the rest of the swarm picks them as their new target. Seconds mater they are quite literally slashed to bloody bits. As are several bystanders who get in their way. Maxi has secured the case. And Julia is still unharmed - she's yet to do anything in fact. Orday is gone, swallowed by the crowd. Then there are several flashes of light followed by a ripple of bright explosion - someone just fired a full magazine from a multi-launcher into the crowds. Using plasma warheads. Orday may have survived the swarm, but no way could he life through that! You can hear the hopper approaching, even as the much-reduced swarm gathers itself, scanning for its next target...which is the one holding the case...
06/04/10 @ 13:45
Comment from:
Maxi does not consider the batlike swarm to be the biggest threat. That consideration is given to whatnots with the multi-launcher. 1.) Maxi voxes to the pilot to turn his aft toward the action and be ready for a quick aft-burn on Max's signal. 2.) Sprint through/around the swarm masked in the confusion and cover provided by his smoke grenades and a few autoshots. Lift up Julia on his way to the hopper and drop himself and Julia behind some cover near the hopper while he give signal for the burn that hopefully will burn/disperse the swarm for enough time that he and Julia can get on the hopper and dust off. 2.) Else...

Comment from:
Mulitasking...Maxi pops smoke, then sweeps Julia off her feet (and onto his manly shoulders), holding her in place with the same arm that's carrying the case. Leaving the other to fondle Sweetness. The swarm is already closing, but the smoke does confuse their sensors and tiny techno-brains. So they scatter and attack anything that moves. Maxi is pretty much immune their slashes as long as they keep away from his (presumably?) exposed face. Julia is not so fortunate - even if she's wearing one of the armored crysweave gowns some of the slashing edges draw blood and she cries of in pain and anger. Then you're inside the crowd again and the swarm cannot effectively track or attack you. Despite Maxi's size and the load he carries he somehow manages to make his way through the crowd with a minimum of fuzz - being hiveborn has its advantages. As you reach the hopper there is another barrage of plasma warheads. A couple hit the lightly armored hopper. One even punches through the passenger compartment and exits as a jet of molten metal on the other side. Some of the plasma must have gotten to the fuel cells, because suddenly the hopper turns into a great ball of white fire. You're knocked down and singed. The crowd, already agitated from the previous attack panics. Suddenly there is only chaos as tens of thousands of people turn into a stampeding mob.
06/04/10 @ 18:04
Comment from:
Maxi runs out of options faster than a ceremonial virgin in a chaos cult where the stars are particularity interesting aligned. He sees no opportunity to try an honest fire fight with the better positioned and hid attacker. His only chance is mobility and time. 1.) Having a sense of time between the barrage from the assailant Maxi runs with the crowd towards (what he hopes) the path of the arriving SAT forces. 2.) During his run he seeks any alley / door entrance / window he can jump into (brake the window with gun fire) before the next volley. 3.) Continue moving and trying to get on vox with the arriving forces. 2.) Else...

Something very hard hits Maxi with tremendous force from above and behind. Not only is he knocked down, but the chest-plate actually fragments. It takes a lot of force to do that. Like driving an APC over it. Saves you life though, for in shattering it absorbs most of the force of the impact, leaving you momentarily stunned rather than permanently pulped. Julia also tumbles to the ground, where she is in immediate danger of being trampled by the fleeing crowd (so are you for that matter. The only savign grace is the tall robed man standing over you - the crowd doesn't seem to be able to move him at all, so it parts around him like a stream of water around a rock. He quickly grab the case - then leaps several meters up into the air, landing on the side of a two-story brick building, and proceeds to run up the side of the building, leaving shattered bricks in his wake. Cybernetic limbs. Maxi still has his Sweetness (that's the last thing an Arbites drops). Grabbing Julia you break open a door and push her inside before the crowd can close. You quickly unfasten the chest-plate and holster Sweetness. And then you are up and away, climbing/jumping/running up the broken facade of the building as best you can. You'd not have made it will all your armour on. The God-Emperor works in mysterious ways... On the roof you see the robed man on another roof, some fifty meters away. He's stopped, caught in the beams of several light-cones. SAT hoppers have caught him movement and intercepted. That's the only reason he's not long gone you realize. The impasse is over rather quickly through. He drops the case to raise his arms in compliance...and you realize who was firing the multilauncher - his left 'arm' is more gun than limb. Six smart rockets carrying plasma warheads streak towards the two offending hoppers. The result is inevitable. Two fiery explosions. But one of the hoppers manage to squeeze off a burst of autocannon fire. You see several rounds striking the man - one even punches straight through him. He doesn't drop - he just lowers his arms and starts moving again...perhaps a little slower and more unsteady than before. What to do?

Comment from:
Maxi's Arbites training dictates his actions. 2.) Secure target. The case is the target and if the heavily augmented rocketing whatsnot is thinking he can keep it. Maxi will prove him wrong. 1.) Maxi run/chase him to get close. He will fire sweetness only to disturb his aim if he try to fire more rockets. 2.) As his opponent his opponent is heavily armored Maxi will try and wrestle him down and hit him Maxi style. (Oh, if he gets any clear shot at the head he won't hesitate to blow "kisses" with Sweetness.) 2.) Else...
06/07/10 @ 10:48
Comment from:
As Maxi gives chase there are some wild acrobatics up on the roofs, but he does manage to get in a hit or two. It's pretty obvious that the man is heavily augmented. He can run up walls, jump great distances, has built-in weapons, can survive multiple high-velocity hits, and as it turns out - can swivel his torso independently from his legs, even keep running forward while he opens up backwards with his other gun, a rapid-fire autogun. It's very hard to follow someone when you need to dive into cover to avoid instant death. Fortunately you're not alone. The SAT troopers might not be Adeptus Arbites, but they come in numbers. And they really really don't like getting shot at with plasma weapons. From somewhere high above you, just below the roof of the Hustle hangs the black shape of the SAT command center - like a miniature armoured fortress. Several rows of high-grade servitors filter through various sensory feeds to provide an unified tactical picture that is used by the officer in charge to set up interception points for the gunman - or should we say plasma-missile-man? Heavy hoppers drop of squads of SAT troopers with support weapons on key rooftops, setting up interlocking fields of fire. And the runner is all out of plasma - he would need to reload from an external supply. Can't be carrying extra missiles internally. He runs through the fire zone of one such firebase, taking more hits in the process. Then he overruns another, killing the occupants with his autogun - and clawed cybernetic legs. But it slows him down enough for Maxi to catch up with him. When he is about to jump down into an alley (seems he's had enough of bullets) Maxi is right on top of him, giving him a good spanking with the power maul. He falls down from the roof and onto the ground, some four stories below, leaving Maxi alone on the roof with the dead Magistratum troopers. The case also went down with him. He's not moving anymore.

Comment from:
One down, swarm to go. Maxi guards the body and the case from the roof. He still only use his auto pistol since picking up any weapon given to others, may have its blessings of the machine spirit and those blessing usually deliver harm on anyone the spirit don't like. Including Maxi. 1.) While posing at the roof Maxi tries to contact the SAT command. Anyone who tries to get close to the body or case on the ground will feel the love of Sweetness. 2.) The Adeptus Arbites will get clearance to pick up the body and case and bring it to their Precinct. There they will wait by it until Maxi arrives and relieves them. (Maxi will hear out any Adeptus Arbites solutions and agree on other storage options. Maxi is not concerned on technicalities at this point.) 3.) The rest of the Magistratum troopers and what the Adeptus Arbrites gives, Maxi order to secure the block and destroy the remain of the swarm. 4.) When the case and body is secured. Maxi moves to pick up Lady Julia and escort her home. (Dashingly escort her home.) 2.) Else...

It's pretty dark down there. Hard to see. Luckily you've always had good nightvision (what machine doesn't ;-) For a moment you think you see movement down there, but it's only a rat, fleeing the scene. SAT acknowledges. They start sweeping for swarm drones. You later learn that they seem to have deactivted. They must have been slaved to the now-deactivated man. AA is enroute to pickup. Thirty seconds later the alley below becomes a miniature sun as the meta self-destruct ignites. Everything within five meters is vaporized as the ambi(e)nt temperature rises to six thousand degrees. Then everything within two city blocks spontaneously catches fire as the local atmosphere becomes superheated and ignites. Finally there is massive backlash as air rushes in to fill the void. Maxi himself is knocked over by the initial blast. The bodyglove is more or less fireproof, but it can't protect completely against the temperature rise. And then there is the issue of the unprotected head. You manage to cover your eyes and avoid sucking in the burning air, but your scalp and parts of your face suffer second and third degree burns as the skin catches fire. The pain is considerable. There is also the issue of a collapsing building and raging fires.
06/07/10 @ 17:09
Comment from:
Maxi ain't got time for pain and burning flesh. 1.) Maxi tries to get his bearing . If the building he stands on is collapsing he will leap from its roof and jump onto another buildings roof / window / escape stairs. 2.) When he get to a safer place he tries to extinguish any remaining flame on himself. 3.) Then he will try to get on the street and possible get a better look at the remains of the body or the case. 2.) Else... Make a mental note to later thank Him on Holy Terra for his survival.
06/07/10 @ 19:12
Comment from:
The building you are on appears stable enough. And for some reason the immediate area is free of flames. Further away the Hustle is ablaze 360 degrees. You get down to the ground level. The case is in a bad shape. Blackened and partially melted. Perhaps it will be possible to salvage something from it. Of the body of the robed man there is no trace save some melted metal parts. Shortly thereafter you find yourself in the back of a Arbites APC, with more Arbites patrolling the area. Fires are extinguished by firefighting servitors. It's a mess. A bright spot is that Julia has survived. And your skull is being tended to be a medic. Sweet relief.
06/07/10 @ 19:21
Comment from:
Sweet relief will wait for later. Maxi denies any offered pain killers, he tries to stay focused until he have reported to Vern or Venus. He looks at Julia, noticing her wounds. She'll live and tell the tale in the courts, he thinks. "Lady Julia, I'll apologize for your inconvenience and pain... I reasoned it would play better as an House Strophes operation... I thought we would hit dirt, but not this... Again, I'm sorry I brought you into this." Maxi mind fades back in concentration to hold his stature. "Get me to Justice Central!!! I'll need to report to a fellow throne agent." He goes in his mind back at the incident thinking over details however small for later reports. He wants to give fresh information to Vern before he's laid comatose in the Precinct Apothecary. (OCC: Sorry it took so long to give comment.)
06/07/10 @ 20:56
Comment from:
You try establishing a secure link to the House of Strophes, but there is no reply. After some double-checking it becomes apparent that no-one is taking the call...which can't be a good sign.
06/08/10 @ 08:17
Comment from:
Maxi looks on the Adeptus Arbites around him in the APC. He thinks back to simpler times. 1.) Secure perimeters. 2.) Secure target. 3.) File report. It where easier in the enforcement. "Ave Imperator, Semper Fidelis" he prays for himself. 1.) Maxi tell the Arbites APC-commander to take a detour to the House of Strophes complex. 2.) Maxi isn't in a state to do first hand close inspection. He only want to do a survey to make sure nothing ill have happened to the house holdings.
06/08/10 @ 09:11
Comment from:
Later. At the House of Strophes. It's all deathly silent. Like a tomb. Which it is. Every servitor, servant and guard is dead. The Arbitrators that go in register a high concentration of nerve toxins within the house. Someone has hijacked the atmospheric systems and flushed several canisters of very lethal gas into the Strophes complex. There is no sign of Laurent or Vern, but they may well have been someplace else. You do find Venus through. She must have survived the gas - and for her troubles she's been shot multiple times a short range. It's a miracle (read Fate Point) that she's still alive.
06/08/10 @ 09:23
Comment from:
Sod it. 'Haxtes going to have a field day', Maxi thinks. 'Hey, Maxi did you secure the trinket and information from Vorlin, no? At least you weren't responsible for blowing up another part of the hive, no? Well I hope House Stophes complex is still standing, no? Venus?, Vern?, Anything?' Even as Haxtes never would mutter those taunts, Maxi knows he would think them, even hinting them with his sluttish grin and insincere toady behavior. 1.) Venus condition has priority. So Maxi calls in an hopper to get her quick to the Apothecary or a Machine god temple. 2.) The Adeptus Arbites present is given permission to hold the house complex and bring in investigation teams from the planet Magistratum. (A hit on a noble family is a local planetary affair and it's no need to offend a Governoral response.) 3.) Find/contact Vern. Maxi calls the Justice Central and demands that they find Throne Agent Vern and get him on vox with the APC present with Maxi. (Maxi gives the vehicle code signal.) Maxi stays at the complex waiting a quarter of an hour to get in touch from Vern. Before he demands a secure line to report to Inquisitor Globus Vaarak, Ordo Hereticus.
06/08/10 @ 10:42
Comment from:
Excellent description - Haxtes is sooo going to love this! Venus is taken away to see a specialist. In the event it turns out to be Medicae-Interrogator Sand. He's well versed in both biological and machine maintenance - he's one of Calixis' foremost cybernetic experts, remember? The Arbites will hold until relieved. Might take some time for the Magistratum to get on top of things. Meanwhile Vern is being found and brought to a vox unit. "Inquisitor Vaarak on a secure line for you Sir."
06/08/10 @ 12:27
Comment from:
(OOC: I thought Sand were in Hive Tarsus. Since I'm dealing with the trauma response I guess Sand will arrive in the clinic and not on scene. When that is said, I'm happy that you fill in with options that we have. I try and use operative service mostly. And it's only natural that the "Agency" gives secondary support off scene.) Maxi reeking of burnt flesh gives his best Adeptus Arbites on parade stature. The adrenaline is wearing of but the pain ain't. 'Keep up the appearance, don't let them know your weakness', he thinks to himself. Maxi picks up the vox: "Inquisitor Globus Vaarak, this is Throne Agent Maximilian of Tancred's Cadre speaking. I'm reporting developments in the House of Strophes assignment that I think you should know. ..." 1.) Maxi reports the hit on the House of Strophes complex. 2.) Linking the Hustle incident earlier as another hit on House of Strophes. 3.) He is vague on the leads only reporting nonspecific that there are some but that they still are under development. 4.) If pushed for more information Maxi will answer that he regards his area as too unsafe to give such information. (OOC: In effect this is an Admiral Ozzel moment from star wars, where Maxi as Ozzel accept all blame. lol)

He listens intently. "First things first. Laurent is safe and sound. He is currently over at the sector governor's place. Very fortunate. I do not blame you for this failure, however, for it is obvious that have you stirred up something much greater than I first envisioned. Whomever we are currently facing have far greater resources than the Joyous Choir could even hope to muster. And they have the gall to openly perpetrate the most heinous of crimes against the nobility of the Hive. One is left wonder...if they knew of your true nature...would they even care that you are Throne agents of the Inquisition? I think not. We are dealing with criminals and heretics of the hardest and most debased kind... I'm tempted...to call this a Throne matter. Give the Arbites full jurisdiction over anything pertaining to these events - we cannot allow the Magistratum to waste what leads we might have here. I fear, however, that this might somehow cause our enemy to vanish from view, and we would be none the wiser. No...before I decide I must have a full report of your findings so far. I will arrange for a meeting. You prepare a report."
06/08/10 @ 14:58
Comment from:
"Your command is my wish. Inquisitor." Maxi puts the vox down and turns to the nearest Adeptus Arbites. "The Adeptus Arbites takes seniority on the scene. If the Magistratum asks it's by Lord Strophes request. Bring down some investigator teams to start investigation I want status on all household servants and personnel. To help you, I can inform you that three of the household guard were killed earlier at the Hustle incident." Maxi picks a bit of burnt flesh of his cheek looks at it turns around and speaks to the vox opperator. "In your own time, please get me a transport to the nearest Apothecary. I feel a strong urge to cover my burns." Maxi waits for Vern' call.

Things are taken care of. Vern is on the horn. He's found out several things, but he is curious; what has happened for you to call so urgently?
06/09/10 @ 08:35
Comment from:
"I've called in Inquisitor Globus Vaarak, he want's a meet. But that is not the urgency of my call. Venus is down, shes endured shot wounds and gas toxins in a hit against House Strophes. The whole complex is dead and I've arranged for the Abrites to do the investigation and cleanup of the place. Lord Laurent is safe at the governors place and the Haegum is sending specialist to treat Venus. Also the Vorlin Orday exchange got a bit hot. I'm sending you the remains of that meet. A body, a case etc, mostly remains. I'm including a preliminary scene survey done by the Abrites. I'll be with you in short hours I'm making a short stop to get me some synth-skin and burn aids. Is there anything you need me to do on my way?"
06/09/10 @ 11:18
Comment from:
Vern doesn't require anything at the moment. Two hours later you are all back at the Strophes place. Lots of Arbites around, but that's hardly a bad thing right now. Vern is there. Venus is (unsurprisingly) not. Odessa is there, sporting several bruises and a bandage. Ignace too, only he's not injured in any way. And Jarra. But no Silon - he's in hospital. You haven't heard from Haxtes in a long while, but you learn that he's back at the Alabaster Court - Odessa relates how they picked him up and then proceeded to get shot down. Good to know that you're not the only one. You also got to replacements - a Tech-priest with a chrome faceplate and a woman pilot. Both from the Haegum. Vern will make a separate brief-post...
06/09/10 @ 17:53
Comment from:
Maxi greets the cadre. He tries not to smile or show any emotions as pain stings through his head at any face twitches. Not that they would have noticed if he did. His whole head is hastily bandaged and sweating with burn aid liquids. Leaving only openings for his eyes and mouth. "Agent Jerra, always a sight for sore eyes." He greets the Fervious twins less cheerfully and more formally on Vern. He listen to Odessas report while he studies the two replacements. (He would give them a more scornful stare if it didn't hurt so much.) After the greetings and short briefing, Maxi (if Vern isn't already on it) gets in touch with the investigators of the Hustle incident to gather any new findings. Including status on Julias (well?)-being. (You could point out that his bandage would look better by the time he spent. But Maxi left before the medicae was finished so he could get sooner back.)

Comment from:
Julia is doing quite all right thank you. She's gone to her father to stay at the Lucid Palace - Lord Hax' court - for the duration of this investigation. Maxi continues to compile reports. He's sure that Haxtes would ridicule his efforts, but he knows that the more detail goes into these reports, the more they have to work with those that pick up the loose ends. Where there is one criminal there are always more, and you cannot hope to purse them all by yourself. That's where the rest of the Haegum and ultimately the Tricorn come in. Sometime it even produces results - but we'll get back to that much later. Globus Vaarak has arrived at the House. He's looked over the initial reports, but he wants to hear things from you in person. So you outline the investigation thus far. One of the things that come up is farcosia, the drug that the Alabaster Court is using on its members to farm psykers. It is pretty certain that the drug is being produced on the walking hive-city of Ambulon. Either produced or routed through. Vern will compile everything into a more detailed brief - but your next target will be Ambulon and the drug factory and/or distribution network. What this fuss over a drug? Because it turns out to contain various xenos compounds form throughout the sector. Because its psychoreactive in a way the Tricorn doesn't understand - it can turn nonspykers into psykers. And because it contains strands of human DNA. All of this quite heretical. And there are those missing psykers...they are really the most important part, but since they seem to flow back the same way the drug cam, starting with Ambulon is your best lead. You'll go as soon as you're packed and read and Vern has given you his brief. One other issue. Haxtes is still investigating over at the Alabaster Court. One he's done there he's to return here to make ready for the next phase. Globus will make sure that the Arbites move in and lock down the Court and conduct a through investigation into possible heresy - under the direction of the Ordo Hereticus of course. Then Globus leaves. --- The two newcomers keep to themselves for the most part while the rest of you make ready. Maxi is throwing back some morning recaff - its been one hell of a long night - when the pilot runs past the kitchen shouting: "Agent Haxtes requesting backup. His cover is blown and there is a bomb over at the Alabaster Court. We need to move in support right away."
06/11/10 @ 13:53

Maxi spits the recaff out and moves after the pilot.

Soon you are in the air. The new pilot is...piloting. Jarra is at the door with her bolter. Maxi is there. Ignace is there. The new Tech-priest is looking over the contents of two portable tech-altars. The others didn't get to come - Vern is useless in a firefight and Odessa was too wounded to come. Continuation over in Haxtes' thread.

Maxi glances at the Tech-priest. (He and Haxtes have seniority on scene. That means more shooting and shouting for me.) He fondles his commandeered Arbites Assault Shotgun. (Poor Sweetness, he thinks. The earlier explosions may have hurt it and it's spirit so I can't risk it's use.) He dedicate the first target for his Auto Pistol while he says a Him on Holy Terra prayer. (OOC: As I don't want to slow Haxtes thread down you play Maxi as another "Adeptus-Arbites-secure-area-shoot-first-don't-ask-trooper". Maxi is only in for the gloat on this trip.)

(OOC: Did I say gloat? I'm sorry I meant glout. Not that Maxi knows the difference. lol Sorry for the spam Hax, but I had to write this in as a character trait on Maxi.)
