Carlyle's Commandos was a mercenary unit consisting of two battlemech lances, plus supporting infantry and logistics assets. The unit and its commander, Durant Carlyle, were wiped out by "pirate forces" while defending Trellwan at the turn of the millennium.

All movable assets belonging to the company were taken as salvage by the pirates, including dropship assets. Carlyle's underage son, Grayson, was never accounted for. He is believed dead - or enslaved.

It was never confirmed, but LIC reports from the incident citied it as "likely" that forces from the Combine were either behind the whole thing or at the very least supporting the pirates. If so, it is probable that "The Red Duke", Henri Ricol of Rodigo, was involved.

As of 3003 AD the company was stricken from the MRB's list of active merc companies.
