FFA CLAWS OF FURY
Gladius-class Attack Frigate. Formerly of the Tiger's Argent. Affar received command after the loss of the Cape of Sorrows. The great Affar has quickly risen to become Mikaela's right-hand man. He likes to weave a memento of his fallen enemies into his dreadlocks – he claims it binds their souls to him and grant him power.
FFA VIOLENCE (IN VICTORY)
Gladius-class Assault Frigate. See above; scarce five hundred years after the Victory reemerged from the Warp it appeared once more. It was an exact copy of the same vessel, but with one crucial difference - those crewmen who had died aboard the Victory were alive aboard the Violence - and vice versa.
FFA VICTORY (IN VIOLENCE)
Gladius-class Assault Frigate. The Victory has a special bond with the Violence; they are the same ship, but from two different time. It sounds impossible, but within the Warp everything can become real. In this case a frigate loyal to Horus was lost under while warp drive while fleeing Terra for the safety of the Eye (even the Legions knew little of the warp currents of the Eye in those days). The ship emerged from the warp six thousand years later - but to those aboard scare a decade had passed. The Victory has a special bond to the Violence - it is said that neither ship can be destroyed as long as the other remains whole.
CL BRINGER OF FAITH
Dauntless-class Light Cruiser. Captured from the Imperial Navy several centuries ago. On the surface the ship still appears to be a loyalist vessels – closer examination will reveal the truth; that is has been thoroughly reconsecrated to the Word and Will of Lorgar. De-facto commander is Anointed Sergeant Melkar, Castor's (pre-10th) warleader. The second most powerful vessel of the original raider fleet.
CLS FIERY FAITH
Astartes Strike Cruiser. Salvaged by the Word Bearers during Abaddon's 12th Black Crusade. May have belonged to the Fire Hawks Chapter, but this has not been verified. The ship was restored to working order by the enginseer-sorcerers of the Maelstrom as payment for a debt they owed to Obel Gar.
CLS WELL OF THE SOUL
Astartes Strike Cruiser. Vanguard-type Deep Patrol Vessel. Ancient voidship that has served the 10th for the last 60 centuries. Many of its systems are old and ill-understood by the tech-adepts toiling in the ship's bowels. Frequent sacrifices are required to keep things in working order.
CLS TIGER RAMPANT
Astartes Strike Cruiser. Previously of the Tigers Argent. Captured (with only light damage) after a very successful ambush. Castor's flagship. Slowly being repaired, redecorated and reconsecrated. There are still issues with noncompliant cogitators and subsystems. It is hoped that the datavaults may contain information about the Tigers' homeworld of 'Icefang'. Apothecary ‘Doctore’ oversees the creation of new Word Bearers from the on-board medicae facilities (which are far superior to those found aboard the Hammer).
BBA ANVIL OF THE GODS
Sister ship to the Hammer. Mothballed after much of the 10th was lost fighting the Khan. In near-pristine condition.
BBA HAMMER OF FAITH
Word Bearer Battle Barge. This ancient relic of a ship has been with the 10th since the Great Crusade. As such it is an important part of the espirit de corps and religious life of the 10th Host. The ship has been well cared for over the millennia, but there is no denying that she can be a somewhat fickle lady. The Hammer has a sister ship - the Anvil of the Gods - which lies mothballed near Sicarus.
The Will and the Word (Zaracas and Zinnridi)
The two brothers Zaracas and Zinnridi are two other examples of the first gen batch that Castor made. A Captain of a company and a chaplain.
Chaplains move around and do not stay in one company for any length of time (it is important that the word is spread) but the war leader has made a exception when it comes to the brothers, they simply fight better when they are together and the company fights harder and with more zeal.
The easy going grin of captain Zaracas, the natural way he leads from the front inspires his legionaries. His brother chaplain Zinnridi is a darker more brooding man, except when he delivers the battle sermons in a deep dark voice that rings with dark zeal and barley suppressed hatred.
Captain Hastrubal
Hastrubal is from the same batch of legionaries as Alfonzo (must be a good batch :-)) and is a brother of sorts too Alfonzo, Hastrubal was in the rival gang that Alfonzos cult destroyed making Hastrubal a orphan as well, but his path to the legion was different, he was taken into the Cult of the serrated heart, were he made a name for him self fast as a smart and powerful warrior, even at this early age Hastrubals grasp of tactics was almost unnatural and this was spotted by the agents of the Ancient Warmonger Sis Tak and so Hastrubal was recruited and joined the scouts of his company.
There Hastrubal kept up his growth in tactics and added strategy to his skills, showing the same aptitude there. As a Legionary Hastrubal is large and powerful the embodiment of a Astardes of legend. He has the bronzed charismatic look of his beloved Primarch Lorgnar Aurelian.
Hastrubal fights smart and hard and is as devote as any WB but not chaplain book smart. Hastrubals field is war.
2.7 Raid on Fenksworld
The fleet could have gone on to Dwimlicht or Kudrun for more raiding, but instead it set course for naval base at Fenksworld along half-forgotten warp-routes first charted by the Imperium during the Meretech Wars (and revealed to the 10th by some of its infiltrators on Fenksworld). An all-out attack on a major Navy base was out of the question of course, but Castor figured that most of the fleet was already out chasing him, so a little flag-waving (and mine-laying) wasn’t entirely out of the question.
In the event the True Gods favoured his boldness; the 10th Fleet came out of the Warp on top of a small Imperial convoy. Chances of that happening are astronomically small. After a brief fight the Guild bulk hauler was seized and much damage was caused to the enemy’s escorts (1 DD destroyed, 2 DD, one warp-capable, captured).
2.6 Raids on Hilarion, Valos Krin, Percipre
Instead of fleeing back to Diamantina or Consovor Castor decided to test the enemy’s determination and mettle: A course was set for the closest (lightly defended) imperial world, Hilarion, another agri-world and member of the Celestine Alliance. The raid was brief, meant mainly to assess the enemy’s ability to track through the warp and their response time. The world was not bombarded as it was hoped that the cracking open of its defences would make it a tempting target for lesser raiders.
Next came Valor Krin: A feral world so ravaged by terrible ash storms than nothing save a full Exterminatus could make life worse of its scattered tribes of feral humans. A symbolic landing party was set down, but again the main goal was to assess the enemy.
The third target was the agri-world of Percipre, while not a member of the Celestine Alliance turned out to enjoy the patronage of the Adeptus Mechanicus. The world had been fertile once, but had slipped into an ice-age, giving rise to a network of city-sized greenhouses run by Mechanicus Magi. A few long-range strikes were launched at the planet, mostly for symbolic effect.
2.5 Scourge of Elros
The Scourge of Elros came as a result of the actions of the Daughters of El, a coven of assassins based on the matriarchal feudal world of Elros. Seven suicide bombers managed to inflict serious internal damage to several 10th Host vessels and nearly succeeded in killing Apostle. After tracking the killers back to the planet Castor ordered the fleet to assault the planet, wanting to punish the offenders.
It turned out to be something of a trap. The Word Bearers captured the enemy’s primary stronghold and chastised them thoroughly; only to be attacked by hidden atomics. Only those Astartes in terminator armour – Castor included – had any chance of surviving the initial blast; and was teleported to safety from under a mountain (literally) of rubble.
Outraged Castor launched the entire 10th Host and its attending God-Machines against the natives of Hilarion. While his troops were engaged in slaking their thirst of blood and vengeance Castor received an ominous warning form this Chaos Sorcerers: The arrival of a major Imperil fleet was imminent. Another trap! The Imperium seemed willing to sacrifice an entire world if only the 10th was cornered and crushed.
Choosing to live to fight another day Castor ordered the nuclear obliteration of all remaining population centres, then pulled out and hauled ass out-system – in the nick of time, as two enemy squadrons number a total of 4 BCs, 6 CAs and 11 DDs (same squadron that came hunting for the 10th as Ichovor) came howling out of the warp, ready to pounce upon the 10th.
